Santander is attributed by 97 percent of the motorsport audience after three teams and two eras
Santander records 99 percent recognition and 97 percent attribution on the motorsport audience, one of the narrowest gaps of the 2026 season.
Santander has sponsored three different teams since 2007 and still records one of the narrowest gaps between recognition and attribution in the sport.
The reading comes from the BoxBoxd Brand Recall Index, a test the motorsport audience takes on the platform through the 2026 season. A sponsor logo appears blurred with no name attached and the audience answers three questions in order: name the brand, name the team it belongs to, then say where the branding appears on the car.
Santander was tested 797 times. 99 percent named the brand, 97 percent attributed it to the right team and 38.4 percent said where it appears.
A bank in three liveries
The Spanish bank arrived with McLaren in 2007 and 2008, ran the red block on the Ferrari sidepod from 2010 to 2017, returned with Williams from 2025, the same season it became the official banking partner of the sport.
Recognition of 99 percent puts it second in the 2026 set. Attribution of 97 percent puts it second again, a gap of 2.0 points where Tommy Hilfiger, on almost identical recognition, loses 44.5.
Why does a brand with three teams still attribute well?
The Ferrari era is doing the work. Eight seasons on the same sidepod, in a red that matched the car, produced an association strong enough to survive both the McLaren years before it and the Williams deal after it.
Placement supports that reading at 38.4 percent, close to the grid average of 42.7 percent and well ahead of Oracle on 28.1 percent. The audience remembers a specific panel on a specific car.
The comparison with Tommy Hilfiger is the useful one. Both brands moved between teams. One held a large fixed surface for eight consecutive seasons and one distributed itself across apparel for three decades. The first keeps its attribution and the second loses half of it.
Does the answer change with allegiance?
Sorted by the team each respondent supports, Santander attribution runs from 98 percent among Ferrari fans to 93.6 percent among Williams fans, a spread of 4.4 points.
The spread across team audiences is one of the tightest in the set, which is what a single dominant era looks like when it has settled.
Ferrari

Mercedes
WilliamsWhat the current deal inherits
A partner returning to the sport after an absence starts from whatever attribution the previous era left behind. In this case that is close to the maximum the test can record, so the Williams and sport wide partnerships begin from a position no new entrant can buy.
The risk runs the other way. Attribution earned on one team can push the audience to the wrong answer once the branding moves, which is what the Williams era will be measured against over the next seasons.
